COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Health Minister Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan urged those in close contact with them for the past two weeks to isolate themselves for 14 days and immediately go to the nearest health facility if they begin experiencing manifestations of the virus.

Dr.  Dipatuan gave the warning after he and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a statement released on Wednesday night, Dipatuan said that he and his wife tested positive despite following all the precautionary measures.

“This makes one realize just how vicious this virus is. It spares no one,” Dipatuan said.

“Thus, in this situation, I cannot emphasize enough how it is of utmost importance that all should strictly adhere to our health protocols and advisories,” he added.

Dipatuan and his wife are currently at the isolation facility of the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) in Marawi City.

“I am asymptomatic but is currently in APMC’s isolation area for further observation, and treatment if needed,” he said.

Dipatuan added that his wife is experiencing mild to moderate symptoms and also in isolation undergoing treatment.

As this developed, the BARMM Health Minister advised the Bangsamoro “health warriors” to “stay safe out there and remain vigilant,” noting that “all of us in this field of health services delivery are at high risk of contracting this infection.” JULMUNIR I. JANNARAL
