CAMP NAVARRO, Calarian, Zamboanga City: A total of five local terrorist group members were killed in their most recent encounter with the government forces.
Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, commander of 102nd Infantry Brigade said while conducting security operations, troops of the 44th Infantry Battalion and the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office clashed with more or less 10 local terrorists in Sitio Limuno, Barangay Roxas, R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay Province in the early morning of Wednesday, September 9.
“We incurred two battle casualties who were immediately extricated from the area and are now in stable condition,” said Brig. Gen. Nicolas.
Troops also recovered three M16 and one M14 rifles.
Intermittent fires still ongoing as of press time.
“I commend the troops of the 44IB for your numerous accomplishments. Carry on your good work for the people of Zamboanga Peninsula,” said Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, JTF ZamPeLan Commander.
