The Best of Home-Cooked Halal Tausug-Filipino Dishes

Now it’s the 18th Digital Edition of the Philippine Muslim Today since we launched our Maiden Issue last June 2020 and most of us continue to Stay At Home in observance of the guidelines of Health Protocols brought about by this COVID-19 pandemic.

However staying at home has also good side effect and that we continue to feature many of the Tausug delicacies prepared in most households in Sulu as listed in the book of well known Tausug Chef Abdulaziz H. Hamsain in his handy Tausug Cookbook titled, “The Best of Home-Cooked Tausug-Filipino Dishes.”

Hence, after we have featured many of the Tausug sumptuous delicacies, it is now about time that we have to feature also the Tausug Yellow Rice known as “Kiyuning Rice”  that is usually served on special occasion like during the First Dinner together of the newly married couple as well as during other occasions.

Now may I request everyone who would like to prepare “Kiyuning Rice” to follow this simple and easy to follow instruction or procedures enumerated as follows.

Kiyuning Rice
Serves 2-3

Procedure:

  1. Wash the rice then prepare in a rice cooker.
  2. Mix the coconut milk and turmeric.
  3. Strain the coconut milk and turmeric then add it to the rice.
  4. Allow the kiyuning rice to cook then serve. 
    *Best served during any meal of the day.all the ingredients together, except for, calamansi and soy sauce, which should be added at the end depending on taste.
