Twenty-five students in Barangay Calugusan of the municipality of Lantawan here graduated on Wednesday from an 18-day training on Bread and Pastry Production, with NCII certificate, conducted by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Basilan (TESDA-Basilan).
The Bread and Pastry Production training is a technical-vocational program of TESDA that develops the skills of students in preparing and producing bakery and pastry products, cakes, and desserts.
Its five core competencies include, prepare and produce bakery products; prepare and produce pastry products; prepare and present gateau, tortes and cakes; prepare and display petit fours; and present deserts.
The constituents of Barangay Calugusan, Lantawan were very thankful for the opportunity extended to them by TESDA Basilan with the support from the military. With this training, the students can now bake their home-cooked breads and pastries, or start a bakery business as a livelihood.
The closing program was attended by TESDA Basilan staffs headed by Mr. Abdulmannan D. Uckung – the PTC Administrator, Kalbiya S. Comez – the BPP Trainer, Hon. Noraisa T. Hadjirul – Barangay Chairwoman of Calugusan, and representatives from the 16th Special Forces Company, 4th Special Forces Battalion.
