COTABATO CITY — The local government unit of Cotabato has lifted the ‘No Movement Sunday’ during Ramadan which may start on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
On April 7, 2021, Cotabato City Mayor Frances Cynthia J. Guiani-Sayadi issued Executive Order No. 395 providing for the lifting of the ‘No Movement Sunday’ during the duration of the coming Ramadan.
The order said during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Muslims are obliged to fast and abstain from drinking and eating as well as all those prohibited by Allah, and performance of all obligatory and voluntary good deeds are strongly encouraged.
“Compliance with such obligations will likewise bolster certain health protocols such as reduction of mass gathering, social distancing and non-essential movements which aid in controlling the spread of Covid-19 diseases,” the mayor said.
The ‘No Movement Sunday’ imposed in Cotabato City shall be lifted on the following dates: April 18, 2021; April 25, 2021; May 2, 2021; and May 9, 2021.
In Marawi City, Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal A. Adiong Jr., Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) chairman, suspends the implementation of the No Movement Day on 11 April 2021 to give the good people of Lanao del Sur enough opportunity to welcome and prepare for the Holy Month of Ramadan, and in performance and preparation for the Moon-Sighting Activity on 11 April 2021.
In a statement, Adiong said ‘No Movement Sunday’ shall be implemented on Sunday, 18 April 2021 onwards unless further revoked. PMT
