Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim appealed to the constituents of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to join in the nationwide anti-coronavirus 2019 vaccination that started Monday and will run through Wednesday.
“These vaccines are safe, effective, and free to every Bangsamoro. This is our only weapon to fight the pandemic, this is our protection from the deadly virus,” Ebrahim said in a statement on Monday, the first day of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2021 national Covid-19 vaccination days from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
He said all government servants in the BARMM’s various offices are actively participating in the region to vaccinate about a million Bangsamoro people.
“We hope to reach our target of 1 million Bangsamoro receiving the vaccine during the three-day event,” he said.
“We can reach this if we join our hands, from front-liners to health care workers, barangay, town and municipal and city local government units, non-government organizations, private sector and civil society organizations, everyone,” the chief minister said.
Data from the BARMM’s Ministry of Health indicated that as of Nov. 26, a total of 676,574 individuals have been immunized out of its 2.9 million targets for vaccination across the region.
The BARMM covers the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi; the cities of Cotabato, Marawi and Lamitan; and the 63 barangays in six towns in North Cotabato. (MNY)
