Bomb explodes in Maguindanao as candidates convoy passes by

ILIGAN CITY – A bomb exploded along the national highway in Maguindanao town of Datu Odin Sinsuat while a convoy of local candidates was passing by on Tuesday afternoon.

Maguindanao provincial police office spokesperson Capt. Fayeed Cana told reporters on Wednesday, Feb. 23, nobody was injured in the explosion.

Initial investigation showed that the convoy of reelectionist Vice Governor Lester Sinsuat and his party was headed for Barangay Dalican and passing by Sitio Baka, Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao at 4 p.m. when the blast occurred.

“The explosion happened about 100 meters from the last vehicle in the convoy,” Cana said.

“We can’t say as of now if it was for the convoy or somebody else,” he said, adding that investigation is still ongoing. (PMT)
