ILIGAN CITY – Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO) has ordered in-depth investigation on the recent explosion near the headquarters of a mayoral candidate in the municipality of Tubaran, Lanao del Sur, days ahead the scheduled special elections to be held in the municipality.
Police Colonel Christopher W. Panapan, LDSPPO provincial director, directed Tubaran Municipal Police Station (MPS) to determine the motive and to identify the perpetrator/s of the incident for filing of approriate charges in court.
Tubaran MPS personnel led by PLT YASHER T HADJIRULLA together with joint elements of 14th RMFB, PMFC, SAF, EOD and AFP stationed at the Municipal Hall of Tubaran municipality adjacent to Tubaran MPS who were earlier deployed as security augmentation in the forthcoming Special Election on May 24, 2022, responded to the explosion at nearby the political headquarters of Mayoralty Candidate Nashif Madki at Buat Residence in the town’s barangay of Tangcal.
Initial Investigation conducted by Tubaran MPS and EOD team revealed that there was an explosion crater believed to be caused by an M203 Grenade Launcher about 20 meters outside from Buat Residence. No injuries or casualties and damaged to properies reported.
Moreover, he directed the Chief of Police of said MPS to intensify the conduct of foot and mobile patrol and checkpoint in the area to preempt similar incident in the future. (With report from LDSPPO)
